## What Faro does

Faro runs 47 checks across 7 categories and produces an AI readiness score (0–100) with a letter grade. The scan takes 30 seconds and requires no signup. Businesses use Faro to find out why AI agents are skipping or misrepresenting them, and to get a prioritised fix list they can act on immediately.

The seven categories Faro audits:
- Agent Permissions (robots.txt, GPTBot/ClaudeBot/PerplexityBot/Gemini access, Content-Signal header, markdown negotiation)

Faro publishes studies built from its own scan data. Each study states its sample, its method and its limitations, and ships a downloadable CSV of the underlying table.

- Who blocks the AI crawlers (n=1,103 websites, fieldwork 25 Aug - 9 Sep 2026): https://byfaro.ai/research/ai-crawler-access-2026
  - 18.9% of the 1,103 sites explicitly disallow at least one of GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot or Google-Extended.
  - News and media sites block at 61.0%; developer-tools sites at 2.9%.
  - 19.0% serve no robots.txt at all.
  - 51.0% score below 50/100 on agent readiness; 1.5% score 80 or above.
  - 41.4% carry any JSON-LD; 25.9% publish an llms.txt; 0.5% register a WebMCP tool.
